Empire State Building NYC

I have been told so many times: "When you first arrive in NYC, you just can't help it, you look up to all those skyscrapers". I have to admit, yes I was impressed, but I was warned and didn't feel awkward about it. The only building which has really impressed me is the Empire State Building. For 50 $ each we could have gone up and admire the view, unfortunately it was raining and foggy, not worth to spend so much and have nothing to see.

What is also impressing is all the history behind each skyscraper. At some point people have invested in Manhattan. I have heard it's not the case anymore, as property taxes are stopping investors, who are just waiting for opportunities, which are not numerous though, in a place where each meter is very precious.
